The London Skills Show Reveals Thirty Six Apprentice Ambassadors

Apprenticeships really work, say employers

It has been revealed at Skills London on 23-24th November that thirty six top apprentice employers will become Apprenticeship Ambassadors, as part of a new scheme headed by the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS).

The ambassadors, selected from the London and South East area, represent a wide range of different industries, including finance, IT, digital and media, with some recognisable names being Visa and Channel 4. At the show last week, the new ambassadors spoke about the process of hiring apprentices and how they have adapted programmes to best fit with their business. Other responsibilities they will take on include: sharing their knowledge and experience through speeches at business events, giving other employers advice, providing the media with interviews and case studies, and broadening the knowledge of others in the business sector in an attempt to promote the apprentice scheme.

The Divisional Apprenticeship Director of the NAS, Vic Grimes, said, “This is a great opportunity for the National Apprenticeship Service to work closely with some of the best Apprenticeship employers we have in London and the South East. The Network will use their passion, knowledge and experience of running successful Apprenticeship programmes to encourage more businesses to start their own high quality Apprenticeship programme supporting even more young people into successful careers.”
